Giving new meaning to the old phrase "everything old is new again," Julio Clavijo recently cut the ribbon on an auto body repair shop near 53rd Street and JFK Boulevard in Bayonne, NJ, taking over from an existing auto body repair facility on that same site.
While Clavijo only opened Bayonne Auto Tech and Collision in September, he isn’t new to Bayonne or even to auto body repair.
Clavijo, who told TAPinto Bayonne he expects to attract customers from the area as well as neighboring Jersey City, also owns an auto mechanic store on 38th Street, a one-time gas station, where he has become a fixture in that part of the city. Prior to that, he owned and operated an auto body repair store in Jersey City.
“He likes the uptown clientele,” said Bayonne City Council President Gary La Pelusa, adding Clavijo is already well recognized and people will be comfortable doing business with him. “He likes doing business uptown.”
“He’s known in the neighborhood and his taking over continues the neighborhood feeling,” La Pelusa said.
