Drunk Man Steals Ferrari from Utah Dealership, Damages 4 Other Exotics

Salt-Lake-City-UT-stolen-Ferrari

A 29-year-old man in Utah had the crazy idea to steal a Ferrari from a dealer in what he described as “a spur-of-the-moment act” after spending the whole day drinking. The intoxicated man caused serious damage to other vehicles and the dealer premises in the process, and was later arrested by police.

The incident took place July 23 at Ferrari of Salt Lake City. The suspect allegedly broke in by shattering the exterior glass with a rock. He then found the car of his dreams and noticed the keys were on the center console.

According to the booking affidavit, the drunk driver hit four other vehicles, the interior glass and the doors in a quest to drive the supercar off the dealership floor. The damages to the vehicles are estimated to cost $100,000, although it wouldn’t be surprising if the repair bill was even higher depending on the models parked inside the premises at the time.

The police didn’t mention the particular Ferrari model the man was driving but claimed it cost around $600,000, meaning it could have been an SF90 Stradale or Spider, since other members of the Ferrari lineup are somewhat cheaper in the U.S.

KSL reported Utah Highway Patrol troopers arrested the suspect July 23 near I-215 and the State Street exit, as he was walking away from the stolen Ferrari. He now faces three counts of property damage, theft and burglary.
