East Brunswick, NJ, business owner Michael Vahdat was recently recognized as the Maaco franchise owner with the top sales growth among the more than 400 independently owned and operated franchises in the whole North American network.
A former IT executive, Vahdat always wanted to own his own business. His dream became a reality when a broker presented a turnkey opportunity for him to purchase an existing Maaco facility, and he knew it was the right decision.
Vahdat has been with Maaco for less than five years, and since taking over in 2018, he is on track to have the shop’s best year ever in its nearly 30-year history, thanks to his keen focus on operational performance and ensuring he employs a dedicated team focused on satisfying the customer.
“Since taking ownership, we have been hyper-focused on quality and customer satisfaction,” said Vahdat. “I treat every car that leaves our shop as if it was my own car. As a result, our customer reviews and ratings continue to improve, up 120 basis points from when we started."
“As one of our newer Maaco owners, Michael is a great example of the success that is possible when you focus on the customer and follow the Maaco model,” said Chris Dawson, paint and collision president for Driven Brands.
Maaco, North America’s body shop, and its network of franchise owners recently gathered for the four-day 2022 Maaco Convention in Carlsbad, CA, to celebrate Maaco’s 50th anniversary and the outstanding achievements of its owners.
