The Collision Industry Electronic Commerce Association (CIECA) announced its next CIECA webinar is scheduled for 11 a.m. PT/1 p.m. CT/ 2 p.m. ET Feb. 23: “Building a More Connected Body Shop for Today… and the Future.”
The one-hour webinar will feature Andy Boyd, 3M’s digital solutions commercialization leader for the U.S. and Canada.
During the live broadcast, Boyd will talk about the increasingly connected body shop and how connectivity can unlock greater value and profitability.
“The collision industry is faced with pressures of profitability, skilled labor shortages and an increasingly digital landscape,” said Boyd. “I’m thrilled to be presenting 3M’s vision of the connected body shop to help all segments of the industry navigate these challenges.”
Topics will include:
- What a Connected Body Shop is and what is important for all industry segments to know
- How the industry’s digital transformation is expected to impact the body shop of the future
- Steps on how to close the gap between initial appraisal and final delivery to help create greater value and profitability for all stakeholders
- 3M’s vision to help develop a digital backbone for the automotive aftermarket
- How CIECA might play a role in developing standards that meet the industry’s future needs
In his current role, Boyd is responsible for the commercialization of the Connected Body Shop in the 3M Automotive Aftermarket Division.
Prior to this role, Boyd built an internet of things (IoT) Connected Air Quality Platform for the Filtrete™ Brand. His experience included applying lean startup methodologies to find “product/market fit,” which ultimately led to launching 3M’s first consumer-based WiFi-connected, smart home device on Indiegogo---a crowdsourced platform used to obtain commercial market insights and inform the path forward.
He had a significant contribution to developing partnerships with startups and enterprises, including Google Home, Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, which enabled smart home and auto-replenishment capabilities.
Early in his career, Boyd held roles in field sales in the northeast and customer-facing roles before relocating back to 3M headquarters to lead three portfolios across the Automotive Aftermarket Division. He has commercialized 14 new products across two business groups, one of which was awarded a top honor at 3M, The Golden Step “Hall of Fame” Class. Boyd has received three Global Marketing Excellence Awards and will complete an MBA in May.
In his spare time, he enjoys traveling domestically, internationally and anywhere with a beach with his wife, Jordan, and, if possible, his giant standard poodle, Milo.
All industry segments, including CIECA members and non-members, are invited to attend the webinar. Following the presentation, there will be a Q&A session.
Attendees can earn Automotive Management Institute (AMi) credit toward an industry-recognized professional designation and specialty degree by attending this webinar.
