The National Auto Body Council Recycled Rides® program on Dec. 14 presented a refurbished vehicle to an Orlando area single mother, to provide her independence and the ability to take of her family, along with car donor Travelers and collision repair partner Classic Collision. Local Travelers employees also raised more than $3,600 for the recipient.
The presentation was held at Classic Collision in Orlando and the deserving recipient, Sherly Marc, was nominated by Jobs Partnership LifeWorks.
Marc, who received a 2018 Hyundai Tucson, graduated from Jobs Partnership LifeWorks in the spring. Since she did not have a car, she paid for ride shares, rode the bus and asked friends for rides so she could better herself and her children through the LifeWorks program. Her hard work and dedication paid off when she was hired as a patient care technician. Marc works full time to take care of her two small children. She said having a car will have a huge impact on her life and career.
“This is the light in the dark for me,” said Marc. “Thanks so much to each organization who gave this car to me. I will take good care of it.”
NABC Recycled Rides is a unique program in which businesses representing all facets of the collision repair industry team up to repair and donate vehicles to individuals and families in need of reliable transportation. Since the inception of the program in 2007, members of the NABC have donated more than 3,200 vehicles valued at some $46 million.
