Jon Delgado, chief technology officer of Repairify, was honored at the Industry Awards Banquet on the last night of the SEMA Show.
SEMA announced Jon Delgado, chief technology officer of Repairify, as its 2023 Gen-III Innovator of the Year, an award that honors an entrepreneurial individual aged 40 years or younger creating new innovative breakthroughs within the areas of automotive aftermarket opportunities, advancement, best business practices, technology or trends.
Delgado was recognized, alongside the SEMA Person of the Year and Content Creator of the Year, at the SEMA Show Industry Awards Banquet on Nov. 2 at the Paradise Event Center at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino.
Delgado led the engineering of the patented asTech Rules Engine, which uses empirical data to present users with the most accurate and cost-effective diagnostic scan option specific to a given vehicle.
asTech scanned tens of thousands of vehicles with leading aftermarket scan tool providers to compare the results to the authentic OEM tool scans. This years-long effort resulted in a rich data set that could verify certain aftermarket scans which performed equivalently to the OEM scan as "OEM-Compatible" by vehicle year, make, model and trim.
Delgado was instrumental in delivering this data to the industry through a comprehensive API solution, merging asTech's traditional remote OEM service offerings with comprehensive aftermarket alternatives known to be viable to the repair process. This is the first in the industry with this level of coverage information, and is featured in the asTech All-in-One scan tool.
asTech has since, in an effort also led by Delgado, further enhanced its OEM-Compatible scans with asTech Insights, a new product leveraging an artificial intelligence system which uses the results from an OEM-Compatible scan to instantly generate custom collision repair recommendations specific to the vehicle and DTC codes. The model was trained on more than 210 million diagnosed trouble codes.
Delgado is also a key contributor and leader in ADAS calibration identifications with his adasThink solution. With the services he has delivered, shops can be confident that they are properly calibrating safety systems as required by OEM repair procedures.
