The 2022 SEMA Show at the Las Vegas Convention Center hosted the automotive industry for its second day Nov. 2.
The Show runs through Nov. 4.
SEMA Show ADAS Showcase
For the first time, the Show includes a 6,000-square foot area dedicated to helping businesses understand how to customize and/or repair vehicles equipped with Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS).
The space features ADAS-related tools, equipment, demonstrations and experts.
NABC Donates Cars to Veterans, Recognizes Industry Leaders
The National Auto Body Council held a presentation in the lot outside the convention center, where it gave away nine vehicles, donated by insurance partners and refurbished by collision repairers, to Las Vegas-area veterans.
The recipients included:
- U.S. Navy veteran Alex Ramirez received a 2017 Nissan Sentra
- U.S. Army veteran John Bush received a 2018 Kia Optima
- U.S. Army veteran Rosemary Smith received a 2019 Honda HR-V
- Porsche Harris received a 2017 Kia Sedona
- Victoria Earwin received a 2020 Jeep Cherokee
- U.S. Army National Guard member Ofelia Valencia Chavez received a 2016 Jeep Renegade
- Angelique Corrente received a 2015 Hyundai Tucson
- Tony Carriedo received a 2020 Nissan Altima
- Katherine Hall received a 2019 Nissan Sentra
The NABC also presented two annual awards.
The NABC Changing and Saving Lives Award was presented to Michael Quinn, president of AirPro Diagnostics, and accepted on his behalf by his daughter, Emily Quinn.
The NABC President’s Award was presented to Enterprise.
Finally, the NABC inducted Dan Risley, Petra Schroeder, Doug Webb, Tim Addleman and Frank Terlep into the Hall of Eagles.
More prestigious awards were presented before the show opened for the day at the Collision Industry Red Carpet Awards Breakfast.
Education Opportunities Continue
The Society of Collision Repair Specialists’ Repairer Driven Education sessions continued Nov. 2.
Among the offerings was “Bullet-Proof Negotiation Tactics” with Mike Anderson of Collision Advice and Danny Gredinberg of the DEG.
Anderson said he is seeing more and more friction between shops and insurers. The goal of the session was to give repairers negotiation strategies to reduce that friction and get paid more.
“This is in no way anti-insurance,” Anderson said.
He and Gredinberg presented tips and resources to approach negotiations with a fact-based foundation.
