This Fourth of July, Speedvision is serving up an extra-large helping of American car culture with a marathon of “AmeriCarna” hosted by NASCAR Hall of Fame crew chief and team owner Ray Evernham.
When the calendar flips from Saturday to Sunday at midnight ET, Speedvision will kick off 27 consecutive hours of “AmeriCarna,” chronicling American history through the lens of the automobile.
“The automobile is a powerful symbol of American freedom, and I can’t think of any better time to share these stories than on Independence Day,” said Evernham. “’AmeriCarna’ connects viewers with the pioneers, mavericks and history makers who in the process of changing car culture, changed American culture as well.”
From the inception of American racing at the turn of the 20th century, to the Woody wagons that defined California style in the ‘50s and ‘60s, to the infamous drag strips of the '70s, automotive history has left an indelible imprint on the American experience. “AmeriCarna” lifts the hood on four-wheeled treasures that continue to have a profound influence on our national DNA.
In each episode, Evernham speaks with guests including director Ron Howard, surf legend and innovator Laird Hamilton, Beach Boy Mike Love, country idols Brad Paisley and Tim McGraw, and many others to discuss the impact that iconic automobiles had on their lives.
“The ‘AmeriCarna’ marathon on July Fourth offers our viewers legendary American car stories as told by an American car legend,” said Robert Scanlon, president and CEO of Speedvision. “Ray is as great a storyteller as he was a crew chief, so our viewers are in for a huge day of automotive entertainment.”
Speedvision, the network brand that started the auto entertainment revolution, returned in October 2022 with the high-octane programming that made it the standard against which all other vehicle media is measured. As a recognized network brand that originated the automotive lifestyle genre in the 90s, Speedvision delivers a signature combination of highly-entertaining storytelling, iconic hosts and premier production values, making it the preeminent destination for auto-passionate viewers.
“The automobile is a quintessential part of the American experience and symbolizes freedom, and adventure,” said Scanlon. “We’re honored to work with a true legend in Ray Evernham to share ‘AmeriCarna’ stories and characters that are as unforgettable as the cars themselves.”
