Tesla recently highlighted the advantages and benefits of its Manufacturing Development Program (MDP), an initiative for graduating high school students that gives participants the financial resources, coursework and experience needed to qualify for a job at the company.
Tesla rolled out its MDP for graduating high school students living in California, Nevada, New York and Texas, the four states that host a major Tesla facility. Tesla said the application process is easy, and includes a series of information sessions and interviews.
Students selected for the MDP receive an offer and are invited to a signing day celebration. After completing the program, which includes specific courses at local colleges, MDP participants earn a Tesla Advanced Manufacturing Certification. They can then start work as a production associate at the Fremont Factory, Giga Nevada, Giga New York or Giga Texas.
Tesla said MDP participants are offered full-time paid positions with benefits, as well as TSLA stock.
Justice Fevella-Potes, part of the program’s 2019 class and now a Level 3 process engineering tech, spoke about some of the advantages.
“I’ve been able to advance to a Level 3 process engineering tech, working hands-on with products and investigating ways to make them better and more efficient every day. MDP allowed me to grow, and my brother is now part of the program,” Fevella-Potes said.
